今回のカセット・リイシューは最高傑作と名高い1998年リリースの『happy』をリマスター、音の解像度が上がりさらに奥行きを増したサウンドとなっている。ボーナス・トラックとしてフランスのアンビエント・アーティストによる「rise」のリミックスを収録。
同時発売は2000年リリースの『dryfruit』を2018年のリマスター音源で再発。エンジニアに内田直之を迎え、削ぎ落とした演奏とシンプルなアレンジが独特の響きを持ち、より深い空間を感じさせる名作。リリース当時はサイケデリックなシャーデーと評され、ドイツのレーベルからヨーロッパ盤がリリースされた。オリジナルの発売時に限定で付けられた内田直之による2曲のダブ・ミックスも収録してのリリースとなる。

Sugar Plant, weaving sounds across genres like indie, post-rock, ambient, and deep house, has consistently attracted more than 30,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. While gaining recognition overseas, especially in the U.S., they are quietly gaining attention in Japan as a response to the mellow grooves artists like Khruangbin, Bonobo, and Cigarettes After Sex, and the reevaluation of shoegaze sounds by the likes of Slowdive and Mazzy Star.
This cassette reissue features a remastered version of the acclaimed 1998 release "happy", enhancing its sound quality and depth. It also includes a bonus track - a remix of "rise" by a French ambient artist.
"dryfruit," originally released in 2000, is re-released simultaneously with the 2018 remastered audio. Engineered by Naoyuki Uchida, the stripped-down performance and simple arrangements create a unique sound and a deeper sense of space. At the time of its release, it was described as a psychedelic Sade, and a European edition was released by a German label. This reissue also includes two dub mixes by Naoyuki Uchida, which were exclusive to the original release.
