🍬“anything” is the first track to be released from sugar plant’s forthcoming album, scheduled for release next spring. Warm, gently blurring guitars and soft, drifting synths create a dream-pop soundscape that quietly embraces the listener. Rather than chasing dramatic shifts, the song treasures subtle fluctuations and that floating sense of suspended time. While carrying the intimacy of their early works, sugar plant reveals a quietly renewed expression—proof that even 30 years after their debut, they continue to refine a sound that resonates with new listeners around the world.

In recent years, the band’s monthly listeners on Spotify have surpassed 70,000, drawing a growing audience of listeners in their 20s and 30s—especially in North America and Europe. With “anything,” sugar plant further updates their dreamy sound, continuing to share Japan’s original alternative pop with listeners across the globe.

Damon & Naomi 7年ぶりの来日決定！
長年のコラボレイターである栗原ミチオを加えたトリオでの公演が実現。

90年代初頭からインディーという枠をはみ出しながらドリームポップやインディー・フォークのオリジネーターとして活動、メランコリックとエクスペリメンタルを行き来するサウンドは文学的とも言えるストーリーを感じさせてくれる。おりしもこの秋にはGalaxie 500の未発表集がリリースとなる、まさに世界的な再評価の声が高まってきたタイミングでの来日となる。
共演としてキリキリヴィラからPervenche (QUE)とsugar plant (FEVER)が出演。

Damon & Naomi
Damon & Naomiはアメリカのインディー・ロックデュオでメンバーはDamon KrukowskiとNaomi Yang。彼らは1991年に解散したドリームポップバンドGalaxie 500の元メンバーとしても知られている。Galaxie 500の解散後、Damon & Naomiは1992年にデビューアルバム「More Sad Hits」をリリースしキャリアを新たにスタートさせた。このアルバムはプロデューサーにGalaxie 500の作品を手がけたKramerを再び迎え、シンプルでメランコリックなサウンドを作り上げた。
彼らの音楽はドリームポップやインディー・フォーク、さらにはエクスペリメンタルな要素を取り入れた独自のスタイルを持っており、Naomi Yangの透明感のあるボーカルとベース、Damon Krukowskiの控えめなドラムとギターが織り成すメロディーはリスナーに静かな感動を与えてきた。それは日常の喧騒から離れた場所でリスナー自身の内面を旅するような感覚を作り出す。

Damon & Naomiは日本のバンドGhostとのコラボレーションでも知られている。彼らはGhostのギタリストKurihara（栗原ミチオ）と共に多くのアルバムを制作した。2000年の「With Ghost」では、GhostのサイケデリックなサウンドがDamon & Naomiの音楽に新たな魅力を加えた。その後もKuriharaは2005年の「The Earth Is Blue」や2007年の「Within These Walls」、2011年の「False Beats and True Hearts」、そして最新作である『A Sky Record』にも参加し、複数のアルバムで重要な役割を果たしてきた。彼のギターワークは、Damon & Naomiのシンプルで詩的なサウンドにエッジと深みを加えている。
Damon & Naomiの活動は音楽だけでなく映像やアートの分野にも広がっている。Naomi Yangは写真家および映像作家としても活躍しており、彼女の視覚的な作品は音楽と深く関連している。特に2015年にリリースされたアルバム「Fortune」は、Naomiが監督した映画にインスパイアされており、視覚と聴覚の両方で彼らの芸術を楽しむことができる作品となっている。
